Plaza del Carmen
The plaza is named after the Carmen Calzado church and convent, which was built in the 17th century. Later the convent gave the name to the whole neighborhood, El Carmen.
The square is located in the Barrio del Carmen, one of the oldest and most charming neighborhoods in Valencia. The square is located in the heart of the old town, just a short walk from the Central Market and the Cathedral of Valencia.
The medieval parish church, Parish of Santa Creu was the political and religious center of the district, located in the square. The convent belonged to it is converted into the modern art museum, Centro del Carme Cultura Contemporánea (CCCC).
